The Opportunity...

Moet Hennessy Diageo is a leader in luxury wines and spirits in Malaysia, and the goal of the Diageo Private Client team is to target, reach and educate private clients on our and Rarities and Uber Pieces, and at the same time, provide clients with excellent service. Our goal is to cultivate our clients and make them into our brand advocates/ambassadors. Diageo possesses an enviable portfolio of luxury whiskies like Brora, Port Ellen as well as collectors’ favorites like Prima, Ultima collections.

This position will report to the MHD Malaysia’s Diageo Marketing Director. The Private Client Manager will actively plan and implement commercial strategies to increase existing business and capture new opportunities by targeting (U)HNWI and HNWI for Malaysia market through nurturing key relationships and extending personalized services and experiences. The Private Client Manager will serve high-net-worth individuals through a direct-to-client (B2C) model, focused on rare, aged whiskies and bespoke experiences. The role requires the candidate to be able to represent the brands to consumers through Ambassadorial duties, event hosting and personal introduction so a reasonably sufficient level of spirits knowledge is expected as well as a solid and adequate commercial aptitude.

Job responsibilities

How you will contribute...

  • Sales & Business Development
    • Engage and develop strong relationships with a select group of HNWIs
    • Ability to identify, recruit, and maintain own Private Client list through personal and private networks
    • Work closely with regional Diageo teams to improve brand understanding and key selling story for bespoke spirits
    • Organize and host exclusive events and tastings to engage HNWI clients and showcase our luxury brands.
    • Adhere to Pricing Guidelines, co-ordinate pricing, and prioritise Product Offers to be released to clients
    • Continuous engagements and possess an entrepreneurial mindset to achieve business objectives
  • Sales Management
    • Achieve the following core KPIs:
      • Diageo Private portfolio’s sales target value and operating profit
      • Manage client engagement through judicious and efficient deployment of A&P budget
    • Evaluate contracts on regular basis to drive improvement on sales efficiency
    • Ensure collection through pro-active evaluation and management of receivables in order to achieve collection target as set by sales management
  • Control
    • Follow internal procedures and standard policies when developing new client accounts
    • Ensure that target price levels for clients are implemented
    • Managing the A&P spend and reporting process end to end in compliance with MHDM guidelines
    • Follow compliance guidelines on protecting clients’ data and ensure all clients sign PDPA with Moet Hennessy Diageo
  • Supply Chain Co-ordination
    • Manage the end to end supply process with MHD Malaysia and Diageo Supply chain teams including planning of SKUs to be sold in Malaysia, providing inputs to MHD Malaysia supply teams for import license registration and co-ordinating Planview approvals with Diageo Supply teams to ensure on-time arrival and launch of chosen SKUs.

    • P&L objectives including but not limited to Net Sales Value, Operating Profit
    • Recruit quality HNWIs and to maintain relationships with 90% of client base through a calendar of engagement

Profile

  • At least 5 years’ experience in sales and client relationship management
  • Having own personal network of (U)HNWI contacts will be a significant advantage
  • Possess Luxury Selling skillset and mindset
  • Strong business acumen and also ability to close sales through strong relationships
  • Good understanding of luxury industry or private banking industry
  • At ease with public speaking and presentation
  • Client-focused
  • Adaptable with high emotional intelligence
  • Self-starter and results-oriented
  • Good networking, influencing and communication skills
  • Fluent in English with proficiency of other language(s) will be an advantage
