Job Responsibilities
The M&E Manager is responsible for overseeing all mechanical and electrical aspects of construction projects from design trough to implementation and commissioning. This role ensures that M&E systems are installed and maintained according to project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements. The M&E Manager works closely with the project management team, subcontractors and clients to deliver efficient and high-quality M&E services.
- Project Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead the planning, coordination and management of M&E systems on construction projects,
- Review and approve M&E design, drawing and specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Develop and manage project schedule for M&E activities to ensure timely completion of work.
- Design & Technical Oversight
- Oversee the design process for M&E systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the design team, resolving any design-related issues,
- Review and approve materials and equipment submittals to ensure they meet project specifications.
- Site Management & Supervision
- Monitor and supervise the installation of M&E systems on construction sites to ensure quality and safety standard are met.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address any M&E issues or risks.
- Coordinate with site supervisor, subcontractor and other stakeholder to ensure smooth project execution.
- Budget & Cost Management
- Prepare and manage the M&E budget to ensure that costs are controlled and within project constraints.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering, optimizing the use of use of resources.
- Monitor and report on M&E expenditures to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement and enforce quality control measures for M&E installation to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspection to ensure that all M&E work is completed to the highest quality.
- Address and resolve any non-conformances or quality issues promptly.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for M&E related matters, communicating effectively with clients, consultants and other stakeholder.
- Participate in project meetings, presenting updates on M&E progress and addressing any concerns.
- Ensure that client requirements and expectations are met, providing timely and accurate reporting.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure that all M&E activities are conducted in compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness among the M&E teams and subcontracts.
- Lead and participate in safety audits to ensure that all risks are identified and mitigated.
- Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee the commissioning of M&E systems to ensure that they are all fully operational and meet project specifications
- Coordinate the handover of M&E systems to the clients, providing necessary documentation, training and support.
- Ensure that all defects and snags are addressed before project completion.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor the M&E team, providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment, encouraging teamwork and innovation.
- Ensure that the M&E team is adequately resourced and equipped to meet project demands.
10. Miscellaneous Duties:
o Special Assignments: Handle special projects and assignments as directed by senior management.
Job Requirements
o Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
o Must be a CIDB green card holder.
o Minimum of 10 years of experience in M&E management within the construction industry.
o Strong knowledge of M&E systems, building services, and construction processes.
o Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects with complex M&E requirements.
o In-depth knowledge of local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
o Proficiency in project management software, AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
o Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
o Good team player, self-motivated, reliable, minimum supervision, good communication and interpersonal skills.
o Understanding of the site safety plan and the safety activities operation flow.
o Proficiency in English and Malay and Computer literate.
