Job Summary:
The Waiter/Waitress in a hotel setting is responsible for providing exceptional dining service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. This role includes taking and serving food and beverage orders, attending to guest needs, and maintaining the dining area’s cleanliness and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
- Present menus and provide detailed descriptions of Chinese dishes, including preparation methods and ingredients if needed.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and input them into the POS system.
- Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring proper presentation and temperature.
- Practice proper Chinese dining etiquette when serving dishes (e.g. serving tea, sharing-style service).
- Refill beverages and attend to guest requests throughout the meal.
- Clear used plates and utensils in a timely manner.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper setup of tables before and after service.
- Provide recommendations and upsell special dishes or promotions.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and inform supervisors when necessary.
- Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service.
- Follow hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
- Assist in opening and closing duties of the restaurant.
- Maintain professional grooming and uphold hotel service standards.
- Support team members in delivering excellent guest experience.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other waitstaff to ensure smooth service.
- Communicate effectively with team members to manage special requests and address any service issues.
Customer Feedback:
- Address guest complaints and concerns with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
- Inform the Restaurant Manager or supervisor of significant guest feedback or recurring issues.
Knowledge and Training:
- Stay informed about the hotel's menu changes, daily specials, and seasonal promotions.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to continuously improve service skills and product knowledge.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or customer service education is a plus.
- Previous experience as a waiter/waitress, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations professionally.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality service.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.

Pay: From RM1,700.00 per month
