Position Overview:
The Demi Chef (Malay Cuisine) supports the Head Chef and Sous Chef in preparing authentic and high-quality Malay dishes. This role requires expertise in traditional and modern Malay cuisine, strong culinary skills, and a commitment to maintaining kitchen standards. The Demi Chef ensures that all food is prepared and presented to the highest quality, contributing to an exceptional dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of Malay dishes, ensuring authenticity and adherence to recipes.
- Handle mise en place, including cutting, marinating, and seasoning ingredients as per requirements.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant's quality, taste, and presentation standards.
- Monitor food freshness and maintain consistency in flavor profiles.
Kitchen Operations:
- Assist in managing the kitchen workflow and station organization.
- Follow proper storage procedures and adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
Menu Development Support:
- Provide input on the creation of new Malay cuisine dishes or menus.
- Experiment with traditional ingredients to enhance flavors and presentation.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to uphold high culinary standards.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Certification in Culinary Arts or relevant field.
- Proven experience in preparing Malay cuisine in a professional kitchen setting.
Skills:
- Deep knowledge of traditional Malay ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques.
- Strong knife skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Creativity in food presentation and plating.
