Key Responsibilities:
- Antenatal Care:
- Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including health assessments, routine screenings, and education about pregnancy, labor, and childbirth.
- Monitor the progress of pregnancy, identifying any potential risks or complications.
- Offer emotional support and counseling to expectant mothers and their families.
- Provide advice on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle during pregnancy.
- Labor and Delivery:
- Assist in the management of labor, monitoring both maternal and fetal health.
- Provide continuous support during labor, including pain management techniques such as breathing exercises, relaxation, and positioning.
- Facilitate vaginal deliveries and assist in medical or surgical interventions (e.g., cesarean sections) when necessary.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to complications during labor and delivery.
- Postnatal Care:
- Provide immediate postnatal care to mothers and newborns, including monitoring vital signs and promoting bonding and breastfeeding.
- Offer guidance and support on infant care, including feeding, sleep patterns, and general newborn health.
- Ensure the safe discharge of mothers and babies, providing aftercare instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Educate mothers on postnatal exercises, recovery, and family planning options.
- Health Education and Counseling:
- Educate patients on topics such as prenatal vitamins, birthing options, breastfeeding techniques, and newborn care.
- Provide counseling on mental health, including postpartum depression and emotional well-being.
- Offer family planning advice and support during the postnatal period.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with doctors, obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers to ensure the delivery of comprehensive care.
- Attend regular team meetings and participate in the development of care plans for expectant mothers.
- Provide information and updates to other healthcare professionals regarding patient progress and needs.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including prenatal care details, labor and delivery notes, and postnatal follow-up.
- Ensure all documentation complies with healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
- Record any complications or deviations from normal care and follow appropriate protocols for escalation and intervention.
- Emergency Response and Risk Management:
- Be prepared to manage emergency situations, such as complicated labor or obstetric emergencies.
- Administer resuscitation techniques for newborns and assist in emergency medical procedures as required.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols to prevent and respond to complications such as hemorrhage, fetal distress, or maternal health issues.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in midwifery care, including continuing education and attending relevant training sessions.
- Participate in hospital or clinic-based training to improve skills and knowledge.
- Share expertise with junior staff or students during their clinical placements.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Diploma or degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution.
- Registered Midwife (RM) or equivalent licensure, as required by the country or region.
- Additional certification in neonatal resuscitation, advanced fetal monitoring, or other relevant specialties is a plus.
- Licensing/Certification:
- Active license to practice as a midwife in the state or country of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is often required.
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a midwife or in a healthcare setting is preferred, especially in labor and delivery.
- Experience in antenatal and postnatal care, as well as childbirth education, is highly valued.

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
