Signalman

Job Purpose:

To ensure safe and efficient lifting operations by providing clear communication between the crane operator and rigging crew during load movement and positioning.

Qualification & Requirement:

• Knowledge of standard crane hand signals (OSHA/ISO or local regulations).
• Prior experience of working experience in the related field is required for this position. Namely in construction or heavy lifting operations is an advantage.
• Strong communication and observation skills.
• Ability to remain alert and focused in noisy or high-risk environments.
• Physical fitness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Safety-conscious mindset and ability to take quick decisions.
• Required language(s): English, Bahasa Malaysia.
• Independent, initiative, able to work under pressure and demanding work requirements and tight construction schedules.
• Willing to work 6 days per week.

Main Responsibilities:

• Direct and guide crane operators during lifting, moving, and positioning of loads using standard hand signals, whistles, or two-way radios.
• Ensure the load path is clear of obstructions, equipment, and personnel before signalling movements.
• Coordinate closely with rigger men to confirm loads are properly secured before lifting.
• Maintain constant communication with the crane operator, ensuring signals are clear, precise, and understood.
• Act as a spotter, monitoring blind spots and potential hazards.
• Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions are detected.
• Follow all site safety procedures, lifting plans, and company policies.
• Report unsafe practices, near-misses, or damaged lifting gear to supervisors.
• Assist in pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks to ensure safe lifting practices.
• Prompt reporting of any non-conformances to the Project Manager/Construction Manager.
• To carry out any other duties as and when instructed by the Management from time to time.

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 24 months

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM2,300.00 per month
