Job Summary:
The Sales Lead- General Trade (Food Service) is responsible for leading sales efforts across the HORECA and institutional customer segments. This role will drive volume growth, build strong customer relationships, manage distributors, and lead a sales team to ensure effective coverage of the food service channel within the assigned region.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HORECA & Food Service Sales Management
- Drive sales performance and achieve monthly and annual sales targets in the food service segment.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with restaurants, hotels, caterers, cafes, and central kitchens.
- Negotiate pricing, trade terms, and contract agreements in line with company policy.
2. Customer Relationship & Key Account Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers (chefs, purchasing managers, F&B directors).
- Conduct regular customer visits to understand needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and ensure consistent service excellence.
3. Distributor & Channel Management
- Manage food service distributors and wholesalers, ensuring availability and timely delivery of products.
- Track distributor performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Monitor channel profitability, credit limits, and inventory turnover.
4. Team Leadership & Sales Operations
- Lead and coach a team of field sales representatives and territory managers.
- Set performance targets, monitor KPls, and conduct field coaching visits.
- Ensure accurate reporting, forecasting, and compliance with company SOPs.
5. Market Intelligence & Strategy Execution
- Analyze competitor activity, pricing structures, and food service trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Provide input to marketing, innovation, and product development teams based on customer insights.
- Implement foodservice-specific promotions and product trials in collaboration with culinary teams.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospitality, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in FMCG food service sales, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong network in the HORECA industry and knowledge of food service operations.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead and develop high-performing sales teams.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office, and data-driven decision making.
Willingness to travel and conduct field visits regularly.
