About the Role
We are seeking a Digital Media Support Engineer to join our XR Workflows team. You will serve as the go-to SME for end-to-end digital media (primarily video) workflows—configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting both hardware and software components to ensure seamless content delivery across online destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for digital media workflows, designing and setting up end-to-end solutions for video (and related media) distribution.
- Perform preventive maintenance, installation, and configuration of video/audio systems—including SD/HD source formats—and their supporting software.
- Maintain operational health of XR’s digital media infrastructure; monitor performance metrics and optimize system throughput.
- Assist operations teams with workflow tasks such as transcoding, audio description, subtitling and file‐prep to specification.
- Configure and manage endpoints (FTP, Aspera, S3 Link) for content ingest and delivery.
- Triage and resolve escalated Trouble Tickets (TTs), liaising directly with clients to diagnose and remediate workflow issues.
- Execute proactive system monitoring and compliance checks; follow SOPs to address deviations immediately.
- Ensure all workflows, procedures and configurations are documented and kept current in the Knowledge Repository (Confluence).
Core Technical Skills Required
- Deep expertise in video/audio encoding, compression and quality control (Vantage, Cambria, FFmpeg or similar).
- Strong understanding of containers, codecs, encoding formats and accessibility features (closed captions, audio description).
- Scripting proficiency to automate media processes (e.g. FFMPEG scripting, custom transcoder pipelines).
- Experience with database systems (SQL/MySQL), backend testing and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Office 365, SQL Server, AWS, and Linux/Windows server administration.
- Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and web-based media playback technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Technology, Broadcast Engineering, Video/Digital Production, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in digital media support within a broadcast, OTT or content production environment.
- Proven ability to prioritize, delegate and multitask in fast-paced, deadline-driven workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a client-focused mindset.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across technical and creative teams.
