What to expect:
- Our 20-month Digital Trainee Programme will give you insights into the various activities that take place in Digital Hub Kuala Lumpur.
- You will familiarize yourself with various topics across various systems, and how it works in the larger BASF landscape.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of unit-specific and cross-unit tasks.
- After just a short time, you will assume responsibility for exciting projects or subprojects.
- You will be assigned to four rotations, each lasting approximately five months each.
- Upon successful completion of your rotations, you will have the opportunity to do an all-expense paid rotation in Germany, to expand your network and further develop your intercultural skills.
Responsibilities
- As a trainee supporting the development, testing, and agile teams for SWIFT (Safety Works Integrations for Today & Tomorrow) and oEHS (operational Environmental Health & Safety) initiatives, you will contribute to the development and testing of enterprise-grade software solutions in a multinational team.
- Your responsibilities will include contributing to sprint planning, coding (both back, with Java, and front-end, with Angular and web technologies), writing and executing automated and manual test cases, as part of the QA team, and assisting in debugging and validation tasks; also, documenting results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and improve system functionality.
- Key outcomes include gaining hands-on experience with tools such as JIRA, Git, and CI/CD pipelines, and work closely with developers to ensure code quality and system reliability. By the end of the trainee programme, you’ll have built a solid foundation in agile software development practices and contributed to the delivery of robust, scalable solutions used across international operations.
Requirements
- Fresh graduates, or individuals with a maximum of 2 years’ working experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or other relevant majors with minimum 3.2 CGPA or Second Upper equivalent.
- Familiar with any modern software development language (we work with Angular and Java, but we’re open to other backgrounds, as far as you’re eager to learn).
- Good learning aptitude, a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
- You can communicate clearly and authentically in English (spoken and written).
Nice to Have
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Familiarity with project management tools like Jira / Azure DevOps or similar.
- Familiarity with Agile / SCRUM.
- Knowledge of Playwright
