Job Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare and cook dishes as per the restaurant’s menu, ensuring they meet quality and presentation standards.
Section Management:
- Take responsibility for managing a specific section in the kitchen (e.g., grill, pastry, sauce, or vegetable station).
Quality Control & Presentation:
- Ensure that all food prepared in your section meets the restaurant’s standards for taste, texture, and presentation.
Stock & Inventory Management:
- Assist in managing stock levels for your section, ensuring ingredients are fresh and stocked adequately.
- Report shortages and help with stock rotation and inventory control to minimize wastage.
- Help with the receiving and storing of deliveries in accordance with health and safety standards.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times, including handling, storing, and preparing food in a sanitary manner.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment and tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following health and safety guidelines in the kitchen.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations, especially during busy service periods.
- Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Chef de Partie to ensure all tasks and orders are executed properly.
- Assist in the mise en place (preparation) for your section, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in food preparation.
- Cook dishes during service, ensuring all orders are prepared in a timely manner and meet the restaurant’s standards.
Job Requirements:
- Culinary Degree or Equivalent Experience: Possess a culinary degree or equivalent experience in the culinary field to showcase your skills and knowledge.
- Good Knowledge in Cuisine and Relevant Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong Culinary Skills and Leadership Experience: Proven proficiency in culinary techniques and previous experience in leading kitchen teams.
- Knowledge of Food Safety and Sanitation Regulations: In-depth understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to adherence.
- Communication and Organizational Skills: Strong communication abilities and organizational aptitude to effectively coordinate kitchen activities.
- Passion for Food and Creativity: A genuine passion for culinary arts with the creativity to innovate in menu planning and dish development.
