Job Description
Your Role as a Core Consultant
As a Core Consultant, you will be at the forefront of delivering innovative solutions and exceptional service to our global clients. You’ll partner with customers and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to:
Translate business objectives into tailored technical solutions that align with project requirements.
Guide clients in leveraging product capabilities to drive value and ensure effective adoption.
Deliver solutions that meet customer needs while adhering to best practices and platform standards.
This is a high-impact role with real responsibility in remote project implementation. Projects vary widely — from upgrades to full implementations of core systems. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to specialize in different project types, regions, or lines of insurance.
What You’ll Do
Learn and master Guidewire InsuranceSuite products to become a certified technical consultant and a subject matter expert.
Partner with Guidewire on-site consultants and customer teams to understand business objectives and integration requirements.
Work closely with customers throughout the project utilizing your full project development lifecycle skills.
Configure Guidewire applications and develop business rules based on customer and project needs.
Develop custom programs to integrate Guidewire applications with other internal and external systems.
Deliver solutions following Guidewire best practices, integrating our products with external applications to support our global customers.
Execute technical testing, refine solutions based on feedback, utilize incidents monitoring tools to communicate issues to and resolve with relevant Guidewire teams and project stakeholders.
Mentor junior team members and guide them in developing advanced skills.
Lead and promote continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
What You’ll Bring
Core Skills & Experience
Languages: Fluent business English required; additional languages (e.g., Chinese, Japanese) are a plus.
Technical Knowledge: Object-Oriented programming (preferably Java), relational databases data modeling, web UI, and XML.
Project Implementation: Exposure in medium to large-scale software implementation or IT consulting projects.
Problem Solving: An analytical person with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Communication: Able to consult/engage confidently with stakeholders and articulate technical solutions across teams.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently, willingness to learn from and contribute to cross-functional teams.
Stakeholder Management: Confident in/capable of influencing project stakeholders in both technical and non-technical teams.
Agile Mindset: Familiarity with Agile approaches and collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
Preferred But Not Required
Prior work experience in an insurance/financial services company or consulting setting.
Experience with insurance carriers or technology implementation partners.
Proficiency in any Guidewire Cloud products.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
2-5 years of hands-on experience in technology or insurance roles.
Knowledge of Agile delivery and Scrum practices.
Eligible to work in Malaysia and able to travel occasionally to the US, Europe or within APAC.
