Wood is recruiting for a Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to join our Production Optimisation team in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia supporting continued growth in the region. The role reports directly to the Flow Assurance Regional Manager for the APAC region and you will be working out of the iconic Platinum Park building and will be part of an expanding global Flow Assurance team
We are searching for a driven, solution-orientated and creative Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer with the technical knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and transport phenomena, and people leadership skills to play a leading role in the evolving energy security and transition markets
The Role
As a Senior CFD Engineer, you will execute studies related to complex fluid flow challenges, and provide related technical support on projects, ranging from conceptual to detailed engineering and operation support. You will have the opportunity to be involved in business development activities and work as part of a global team.

Typical responsibilities
What you will be doing…
- Execute studies related to fluid flow for different projects from concept through to detail engineering and operations support with guidance or supervision from Lead/Principal engineers
- Directly lead the execution of smaller studies
- Provide guidance to junior engineers
- Participation in Wood’s global Production Optimization team knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Drive excellence in the execution and delivery of contracted activities
- Responsible for the quality of the deliverables
- Provides technical review for complex projects within the area of expertise

What you will have…
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in complex fluid flow studies
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, for example, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar
- Demonstrated experience in executing onshore & offshore hydrocarbon field development projects (conceptual, FEED, and detailed design) or ad-hoc operational support
- With our growth in the energy transition business, experience in the design and operation of CCS, H2 transport and blending analysis, and cryogenic transport (e.g., LNG, ammonia, liquid H2) would be desirable
- Demonstrated experience in managing flow assurance issues like solid management (hydrate, wax, scale, sand, asphaltene) and liquid management
- Familiarity with thermodynamic and flow simulators and design standards/ codes
- High familiarity with flow assurance software, e.g., OLGA, PipeSim, and with thermodynamic software Multiflash or PVTSim, is expected. Experience with a waterhammer / pressure surge simulator e.g., PIPENET or AFT Impulse is advantageous
- Good understanding of process modelling, e.g., separator, compressor, pump, heat exchanger, and controller and use of process simulator (e.g. HYSYS and UNISIM) would be advantageous
- Oral/written English proficiency to write reports and to have client communication
- Have valid work authorisation in Malaysia
