QUANTITY SURVEYOR (QS) – Scope of Work
Location: Flexible (remote/office-based)
Reporting to: Project Manager / Company Director / Client Representative
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Contract Responsibilities
- Review tender drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities.
- Assist in cost planning, budget preparation, and contract documentation.
- Participate in the review and preparation of work programs and cash flow forecasts.
- Post-Contract Administration
- Monitor and control construction cost throughout the project duration.
- Prepare monthly progress claims and valuations for submission to the client/consultant.
- Certify subcontractors’ claims and assess payments accordingly.
- Variation Orders (VO) & Cost Control
- Identify, evaluate, and prepare Variation Orders (VO) based on design changes or site conditions.
- Maintain VO log and ensure timely submission with supporting documentation.
- Advise project team on cost implications of changes and ensure VO approvals are obtained.
- Procurement & Subcontractor Management
- Prepare scope of works, quotation evaluations, and recommendation for award of subcontracts.
- Issue work orders and subcontract agreements.
- Monitor and verify subcontractor progress, claims, and compliance.
- Cost Reporting
- Prepare monthly cost reports and updates to project budget.
- Track expenditure against budget and identify any overruns or cost-saving opportunities.
- Final Account Preparation
- Coordinate with the site team and consultants to prepare and submit Final Account upon project completion.
- Resolve all contractual and financial matters including VOs, claims, and backcharges.
- Document Control & Record Keeping
- Ensure all contractual correspondence, VO submissions, claims, and approvals are properly recorded and filed.
- Maintain proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience in QS roles, preferably in JKR / government or infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD (basic measurement), and QS software (e.g. CostX, Buildsoft, or similar).
- Familiar with SMM (Standard Method of Measurement) and JKR contract formats.
- Able to work independently and deliver under tight timelines.
