Job Purpose
The Sous Chef supports the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, consistency, and hygiene standards. This role involves supervising junior chefs, training staff, handling administrative duties, and stepping in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation
- Direct and supervise daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth workflow.
- Cook and prepare high-quality dishes in line with restaurant standards.
- Assist the Head Chef in creating menu items, developing recipes, and testing new dishes.
- Ensure all food preparation is carried out according to safety and hygiene regulations.
Leadership & Training
- Onboard and train new employees, ensuring adherence to SOPs.
- Mentor and develop junior chefs to improve skills and efficiency.
- Oversee kitchen operations when the Head Chef is not present.
- Foster teamwork among staff, encouraging a positive and professional kitchen environment.
Administrative Duties
- Assist with kitchen administration, including ordering, stock management, and cost control.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure efficient use of resources to reduce waste.
- Support compliance with company policies and food safety regulations.
Other Duties
- Be flexible with working hours, staying back when required to meet operational needs.
- Collaborate with a multicultural team and adapt to diverse working styles.
- Continuously learn and develop professionally to support career growth.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in the F&B industry, preferably in a supervisory or sous chef role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, hardworking, motivated, and a team player.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the company.
- Ability to work in a diverse team with staff from different nationalities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3,800.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
