- Under the general guidance and supervision of the DOSM and within the limits of hotel policies and procedures, oversee and direct all aspects of the Catering department including administration, planning and MICE sales solicitation.
- Responsibilities includes, but not limited to oversee day-to-day running of the department sales and operational efforts of all team members in the department, with specific responsibility for directing sales, event coordination, training, implementation of action plans, strategies set forth in the business plan.
- Ensure that all Events sales personnel fully understand their role in developing business in the MICE business.
- Ensures appropriate efforts are expanded by Events team on the solicitation and development of active accounts, prospect accounts, postpone, cancelled or lost accounts.
- Engage with meeting planners in-house to maintain a good client relationship and to solicit for more future businesses.
- To be fully aware of the potential and buying decisions of all key accounts, competitive information on rates and volume to allow for specific strategic planning related to such accounts.
- Analyze market changes and implement programme to meet the changes.
- To ensure Le Meridien Petaling Jaya Hotel is preferred hotel for corporate, government, diplomatic, socials, MICE, and weddings events or meetings in Petaling Jaya.
- Direct all sales activities of Events team to ensure that they meet the goals of the business plan
- Fully responsible for business development target of MICE business for the hotel.
- Coordinate customer’s requirements with other departments to achieve maximum guest satisfaction and profitability for the hotel.
- Attend all major functions hosted by the hotel to promote MICE.
- Assist and support Events team in all aspect of negotiation and closing of major events for the hotel.
- To constantly monitor the progress and provide feedback to DOSM and implement action plans for improvement.
- Analyze market changes i.e. MICE business trends, economy impact, inflation of foreign currencies
Qualifications
- Degree in sales, event management or business administration. Advanced degree in business knowledge of hotel operations systems.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
- Must have a thorough knowledge in all jobs in hotel sales & event environment.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all responsibilities and task.
- Must be able to guide and maintain a sales team towards achieving the department’s goal.
- Must have a high degree of professional integrity and be able to work in prudent and organized manner.
- Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted projects and working under pressure.
- Team player who values teamwork, has a good team building skills and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

Experience
- 3-5 years’ solid experience in the role of Director of Catering of a luxury hotel.
- Candidates with experience in Le Meridien or Marriott International properties are preferred
