Job Summary
The Data Investigations Analyst role specializes in investigation and resolution of data quality exceptions. In this role, the analyst is responsible for analysing discrepancies, identifying root causes of data issues, and working cross-functionally to ensure the integrity and accuracy of critical data elements. This role plays a key part in maintaining high data quality standards by monitoring exception reports, performing in-depth data investigations, and bringing corrective and preventive actions to closure. Strategy
The Data Investigations Analyst will proactively safeguard data integrity by implementing risk-based triage of quality exceptions, then using lineage mapping and analytical skillset to identify root causes and findings. The analyst will need to coordinate corrective fixes and enhance preventive controls – updating validation rules while collaborating with data governance and business stakeholders to align on ownership and remediation paths.

Business
- Scoping of data quality issues identified through various channels including automated periodic profiling reports, self-identified issues and thematic issues highlighted by stakeholders.
- Maintain Investigation backlog, plan and prioritise for action based on established prioritisation framework.
- Undertake investigation for prioritised issues allocated to team.
- Provide periodic updates on investigation backlog and generate data quality metrics.
- Proactive identification of data quality issues arising across client data domains, and risks emanating from them.
- Ensure alignment of assigned work items and activities to the strategic and tactical direction of the Data team.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining investigation activities as well as other components of the exception management process with the objective to improve coverage, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Identify external investigation blockers and propose effective solutions.
- Proactive identification of risks and concerns, including escalation to all relevant stakeholders.
- Adherence to laws and regulations, internal risk and compliance policies and the Group Code of Conduct
- Completion of all mandatory risk and compliance training including e-learning within stated timeframes
- Safeguard all data by ensuring strict adherence to information communication guidelines polices as well as data storage/archival procedures.
Processes
- Conduct root cause analysis of exceptions based on understanding of Group policy requirements, process, procedures, and current system functionality.
- Identify high-level corrective options across processes and systems that will resolve/ prevent occurrence of the data quality issues.
- Identify cases requiring data remediation or data enhancement and handover to subsequent teams for further action.
- Track issues for progress and ensure that stakeholders are made aware of current data quality exceptions and their impact.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders to obtain consumer’s impact and translate root cause analysis findings to ensure shared understanding and accountability.
- Record each investigation’s timeline, findings, and resolutions in a central repository to accelerate future triage.
Risk Management
- Proactive identification of risks and concerns, including escalation to all relevant stakeholders.
- Adherence to laws and regulations, internal risk and compliance policies and the Group Code of Conduct.
- Completion of all mandatory risk and compliance training including e-learning within stated timeframes.
- Safeguard all data by ensuring strict adherence to information communication guidelines polices as well as data storage/archival procedures.
- Ensure quality processing and adherence to all key controls and checks.

Other Responsibilities
- Handle ad-hoc or bespoke data quality investigations or reports as requested by business units, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Prepare periodic metrics and status reports by compiling data quality KPIs, exception trends, and resolution status to stakeholders on a weekly basis, highlighting key risks and progress.
- Gather and define requirements from business analysis by translating insights from investigations into clear business and technical requirements to support targeted data quality solutions and process improvements.
- Support testing and validation for any reporting/system changes by participating in user acceptance testing (UAT).
