DESIGNATION : Care Associate
RESPONSIBILITIES
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate Individualized Programs: Help implement personalized programs for each client in the class.
- Prepare Materials and Plans: Assist in preparing materials, equipment, and contract work for daily plans.
- Oversee Daily Activities: Manage clients' daily routines including contract work, in-house training, mealtime, and rest time.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure clients are thoroughly cleaned after incidents like vomiting, diarrhea, etc.
- Create a Stimulating Environment: Help maintain a stimulating, organized classroom and ensure cleanliness.
- Supervise Field Trips: Oversee clients during field trips, even those outside regular working hours.
- Supervise Play and Recreational Activities: Provide supervision during indoor and outdoor play and recreational activities.
- Direct Client Supervision: Take charge of clients in the class when the Teacher is absent.
- Accompany Clients on Trips: Accompany clients on trips in the Centre vehicle when necessary.
- Provide Additional Support: Offer appropriate assistance to address students' difficulties and ensure their safety during various activities.
- Uphold Professionalism: Maintain good attendance, adhere to the proper dress code, and uphold discipline at all times.
- Display Professional Conduct: Interact professionally with clients, parents, visitors, donors, sponsors, and colleagues, maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
ADDITIONAL TASKS FOR TEACHING ROLE
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate in designing and refining the curriculum to meet clients' specific needs.
- Parental Collaboration: Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on progress and discuss strategies for continued improvement.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on best practices in special education.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized education plans for each student.
- Behavioural Intervention: Implement and monitor behavior management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
- Assessment and Reporting: Conduct assessments, maintain records, and generate progress reports to track and communicate clients' academic and developmental achievements.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with therapists, aides, and other professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to client care.
- Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to and manage any behavioral or emotional crises that may arise among clients.
OTHERS
- Attend regular and ad-hoc staff meetings as required to address challenges and issues for the best interests of our clients.
- Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for maintaining best practices and service excellence at the Centre.
- Assist in fundraising events organized by The Salvation Army.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and training activities consistent with your position as required and approved by management.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties and requests from the Supervisor as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- SPM or equivalent. Additional education in related fields is a plus.
- Prior experience with special needs children is valuable.
- Understanding of different disabilities and appropriate interventions.
- Good communication and patience.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to each child's needs.
- Compliance with background checks, immunizations, and other regulatory standards.
- Moderate physical fitness and emotional resilience.
- Collaboration with a team of professionals, including teachers and therapists.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.

WORKING DAYS AND HOURS
This role is required to adhere to a standard weekly schedule of 45 hours over 5.5 days.
- Mondays to Fridays: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Saturdays: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
