Accountable for delivering stakeholder requirements across various Indirect categories such as Facilities, Marketing, IT, and Learning & Development. Responsible for collecting quotes, negotiating, and finalizing suppliers using appropriate procurement tools and techniques. Involved in supply market analysis, category planning, and spend analysis. Also supervises compliance with Smith & Nephew’s procurement policies and maintains strong vendor relationships through effective negotiation and networking skills.
What will you be doing?
This role supports the alignment and execution of category strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring that initiatives around cost efficiency, risk reduction, and quality improvement are successfully implemented. The focus is on driving value through strategic sourcing and category management that supports the broader business objectives.
Key responsibilities include delivering measurable cost savings, growing spend under procurement’s influence, and contributing to Smith & Nephew’s innovation agenda. The role also involves proactive supplier relationship management and identifying critical category risks, ensuring they are mitigated and managed through structured, multifaceted plans.
What will you need to be successful?
The ideal candidate holds at least a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field, with 3 to 5 years of experience in the procurement domain, including over 2 years in sourcing and contracting. They are a strong team player, capable of facilitating and collaborating optimally with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills—both verbal and written—are crucial, along with professional telephone etiquette and a customer-focused approach. The candidate should be comfortable working closely with end users, suppliers, and management. Minimal travel is required (less than 10%).
