Job Description:
We are hiring a competent and proactive Safety & Health Officer (SHO) to oversee the infrastructure and road construction project in Johor. The SHO will be responsible for managing and enforcing all site safety and health procedures to ensure full compliance with Malaysian OSH laws and project safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, especially related to heavy machinery, earthworks, roadworks, drainage, and utilities installation.
- Conduct regular site safety audits, hazard identification (HIRARC), and ensure proper control measures are in place.
- Oversee the implementation of Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and ensure worker/public safety near live traffic zones.
- Conduct and document toolbox talks, safety briefings, and emergency response drills.
- Inspect and verify that all workers, subcontractors, and visitors comply with PPE requirements and safety protocols.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports, accident/incident reports, and submit to Project Manager and DOSH (JKKP) where required.
- Liaise with authorities (e.g., DOSH, CIDB, JKR) and represent the company during safety inspections.
- Ensure site signage, fencing, and safety barriers are installed and maintained properly.
- Lead accident investigations and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain proper documentation and continuous improvement of the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) on-site.
Requirements:
- Registered SHO with DOSH (JKKP Green Book) – mandatory.
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in infrastructure or road construction projects.
- Strong understanding of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and Construction (Safety) Regulations.
- Familiar with earthworks, road alignment, drainage, piling, utilities diversion, and other infra works.
- Able to manage and monitor subcontractor safety performance.
- Proficient in safety reporting, incident investigation, and communication with project stakeholders.
- Willing to be based full-time at project site in Johor and work under site conditions.
