Seeking a full-time Radar Airfield Weather Services (RAWS) / Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS) / VORTAC (Technician/ Journeyman) in support of Base Operations Services (BOS) and Mission Support Services (MSS) at Ascension Auxiliary Air Field (AAAF). Your Impact
Radar Airfield Weather Services (RAWS) / Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS) / VORTAC (Technician/ Journeyman) maintains and repairs electronics such as radios, digital voice recorders, communications switches, touch screen displays, airfield lighting systems, navigational aids, and landing systems, specifically the Radar Airfield Weather Services (RAWS) / Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS) / VORTAC.
- Serving as the senior maintenance technician responsible for establishing a training program and training all subordinates in accordance with the applicable regulations
- Leads a team of technicians and schedule work to maintain and repair air traffic control communication and navigation aids such as radios, digital voice recorders, communication switches, touch screen displays and systems including Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch, airfield lighting, navigational aids, landing, and meteorology systems
- Schedule official flight inspections and flight checks as required to determine whether Airfield Navigational Aids performances are satisfactory according to applicable military and FAA publications and tolerance
- Manage the ATC Maintenance Certification Program
- Read airfield wiring diagrams; troubleshoot and repair multi-step airfield lighting to include Medium Intensity Approach Lighting with Sequence Flasher and Constant Current Regulator/Microprocessor Controlled Regulator
- Install, adjust, and maintain ATC communication and navigation aids
- Provide technicians with training materials to achieve comprehensive training on systems, subsystems, and equipment
- Provide on-going informal performance feedback and periodic formal performance assessments
- Submit routine reports in accordance with contract requirements
- Coordinate maintenance-related issues such as Letters of Agreements, on-call rosters, and Navigational Aids scheduled maintenance with Facility Supervisor or Air Traffic Manager
- Perform 24-hour on call duties on a rotating basis
- Perform other duties as assigned by the airfield manager
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date.
- Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date
- Must be able to gain and maintain authorized entry onto US military installations.
- Must meet United States Department of Defense medical requirements necessary to live and work at Ascension Island

Additional Required Qualifications
- Experience in Radar Airfield Weather Services (RAWS) / Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS) / VORTAC preferred.
- Assist with installation and adjustment of air traffic control (ATC) communication and navigation aid systems
- Maintain ATC communication systems and troubleshoot issues
- Test, align, and adjust equipment; replace and repair faulty components
- Maintain equipment maintenance records, authorized spare parts, supply stock, tool lists, and technical manuals
- Perform comparison checks on repaired equipment in accordance with standards
- Requisition materials and parts for ATC equipment
- Perform 24-hour on call duties on a rotating basis
- Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor or maintenance chief
- Uses all equipment safely
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in electronics, communications, or similar field with at least two( 2) years as an air traffic control technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair airfield lighting, communications, navigational equipment, and meteorological systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; must speak and understand English in order to coordinate movement on the ramps via two-way radios
- Knowledgeable in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing airfield lighting, communications, and navigational equipment
- Ability to translate communication needs of employees/customers not versed in computer terminology into meaningful solutions for both hardware and software
- Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
