Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Purchasing Executive (NPI Buyer) to lead procurement activities for New Product Introductions (NPI) across our global operations. This role involves sourcing mechanical and electronic components, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring supply chain continuity. The ideal candidate will also support buyers and contribute to strategic procurement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Source shortage materials and request samples for pilot builds.
- Purchase from authorized suppliers to support production timelines.
- Compile and review quotations based on BOM targets.
Mechanical Procurement
- Source and procure drawing components.
- Collaborate with engineering and QA teams for component evaluation and sample registration.
- Manage supplier documentation including updated pricing, MOQ, SPQ, lead time, and ROHS declarations.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers.
- Ensure on-time delivery, quality assurance, and performance evaluation.
- Cultivate strong supplier relationships and conduct regular reviews.
Team Coordination & Guidance
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior buyers.
- Promote a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Lead knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with clients on NPI materials, excess inventory, ECOs, and lead times.
- Work with engineering, production, store, and finance teams to align procurement strategies.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify supply chain risks and escalate to management.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and ROHS EU Directive.
Market Analysis & Cost Reduction
- Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and execute cost-down strategies.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate procurement records.
- Prepare reports on performance, cost savings, and supply chain status.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 10 years in purchasing, inventory, or material management within electronic manufacturing.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Leadership and mentoring abilities
- Ability to work independently and in teams
Knowledge:
- MRP/ERP systems.
- Supply chain and purchasing principles.
- Logistics and financial principles related to procurement.
