Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Proxmox Virtualization Consultant to join our project team on a contract basis. The consultant will play a key role in designing, deploying, migrating, and optimizing Proxmox VE environments. The role will involve supporting migration activities, sometimes during UK night hours with limited support, so strong technical expertise and independence are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and optimize Proxmox VE clusters (compute, storage, networking).
- Perform workload migrations from VMware/Hyper-V to Proxmox.
- Implement high availability, clustering, and failover strategies.
- Ensure security compliance, RBAC, and authentication integration.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize infrastructure performance.
- Document processes and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in Proxmox VE design, deployment, and migrations.
- Strong Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) administration skills.
- Experience with storage technologies (ZFS, Ceph, NFS, iSCSI).
- Networking knowledge (VLANs, SDN, firewalls).
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery (e.g., Veeam).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have:
- Scripting/automation (Bash, Python, Ansible).
- Experience with containers (LXC, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios).
