The Production Manager (Bending Department) oversees the metal bending processes, managing both company employees and contract workers paid by piece rate. The role focuses on achieving production targets, upholding quality standards, and promoting safety within the department. Key responsibilities include leveraging automation, promoting BendCAM software, optimizing machine utilization (e.g., Tending robots, bending followers, and auto-tool changers), and ensuring efficient handling of high-mix, low-volume orders.
KEY RESPONSIBIITIES
> Team Development & Performance Management
- Lead and mentor the team, fostering skill development in BendCAM software, automation utilization and advanced bending techniques.
- Organize training and develop production staff to ensure they are qualified and well-prepared to meet production demands.
- Identifies the best tools and technologies to help manage workflow and optimizes implementation and deployment for operation team.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to drive productivity.
> Production Planning & Control
- Coordinate with departments such as PPC and Purchasing to ensure alignment of resource requirements, schedules, and material availability.
- Oversee scheduling and workflow adjustments to meet daily and weekly production targets efficiently.
> Quality & Safety Management
- Maintain high standards for quality and enforce safety protocols, especially when handling complex machinery.
- Ensure that all manufacturing activities are conducted in compliance with safety and health regulations.
> Machines & Facilities
- Responsible for undertaking continuous routine maintenance on plants and machinery to ensure they run smoothly and reliably.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure that machinery and equipment are properly maintained and repaired to minimize downtime.
> Team Collaboration
- Conducting regular team meetings to communicate targets, discuss issues, and provide solutions.
- Resolve Conflicts to reduces downtime and boosts morale, meeting production goals without compromising workplace harmony.
- Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the timely completion of projects.
> Promote BendCAM software & Automation Utilization
- Ensure the adoption of BendCAM software for programming across the department, enhancing accuracy, consistency, and productivity in bending operations
- Optimize the use of automation, including Tending robots to assist with heavy parts, reducing manual strain, and bending followers to reduce worker fatigue and improve productivity.
- Maximize the use of auto-tool changer bending machines to handle high-mix, low-volume project orders, increasing flexibility and efficiency.
> Cost & Efficiency Optimization
- Manage piece-rate labour costs effectively, while implementing cost- saving measures in automation and tooling.
> Process Improvement
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and support Industry 4.0 initiatives.
> Reporting
- Participate and prepare a weekly HOD meeting slide presentation report.
- Participate and prepare Monthly & Quarterly KPI report and slide presentation.
- Review weekly & monthly production output reports through the collection of data and ensure it meets the target.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant field
- Preferably 6 years in Metal Fabrication or a similar field within Manufacturing industry, including 3 years in a Managerial role focused on bending operations, automation, and programming.
- Strong leadership and people skills.
- Permanent vacancy based in Klang.
