POSITION SUMMARY:
The Planning Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of resources. This role coordinates across departments to align schedules with material availability, capacity, and job priorities, while monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and skilled at driving schedule adherence in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer delivery dates, job priorities, and resource constraints.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Warehouse, and Production teams to ensure schedule feasibility and resource availability.
- Prioritize work orders based on lead times, complexity, and production constraints.
- Monitor daily work-in-progress (WIP), machine utilization, and schedule adherence.
- Adjust schedules based on material availability, equipment downtime, or urgent customer needs.
- Review BOMs, drawing completeness, and material readiness before job release.
- Plan and track outsourced processes (e.g., welding, coating, machining) and incorporate them into the master schedule.
- Collaborate with Quality, Logistics, and Warehouse teams for smooth handovers and on-time deliveries.
- Prepare and analyze schedule performance reports, highlighting delays and inefficiencies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in planning, material flow, and capacity utilization.

- Ability to interpret BOMs, technical drawings, and routing sheets.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Just-in-Time (JIT) principles is a plus.
- Willingness to support overtime or weekend work during peak periods.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in production planning, material scheduling, or manufacturing coordination.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Epicor, SAP, or Oracle.
- Experience in high-mix low-volume (HMLV) or metal fabrication environments is preferred.
- Prior roles such as Planning Scheduler or Production Planner in a manufacturing environment are advantageous.
