The Role
Reporting to: Director of Music
Marlborough College Malaysia requires an Peripatetic Music Teacher - Singing (Specialising in Popular Music and Musical Theatre) to work within its Music Department and assist pupils in their development, primarily through one-to-one singing lessons. There may also be opportunities for the successful candidate to become an active contributor to the co-curricular programme in the College through leading larger music ensembles. Using a range of interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, the individual will be required to utilise knowledge of learning strategies and values of the College to contribute to the progress made by students in their musical development.
Key Responsibilities
- To uphold the traditions and promote the ethos of Marlborough College Malaysia.
- To provide high quality instrumental lessons to individuals and small groups of pupils.
- To monitor and record progress of individual pupils and to give feedback to parents and teachers.
- To assist with the preparation and performance of examination pieces and concerts, as required.
- To remain professional in manners and dress at all times and to be aware of school policies.
- To uphold the traditions and promote the ethos of Marlborough College Malaysia.
Essential Skills and Abilities
In order to meet the high standards expected of a leading professional in our College, the successful candidate will understand and believe in the aims and ethos of a non-franchised British independent education in general and in Marlborough College Malaysia in particular. In addition, we are seeking to employ a person with the following qualities, experience, skills and abilities:
- The school is seeking to employ a well-qualified and accomplished instrumental music teacher to work across the College specialising in Popular Music and Musical Theatre vocal technique.
- Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Music/Performing Arts Studies or equivalent.
- At least 3 year(s) of working experience in the related field is preferred for this position.
- Expertise in vocal studies.
- Expertise of teaching high quality vocal lessons.
- Proficiency in English.
- Ability to uphold the traditions and promote the ethos of Marlborough College Malaysia.

Hours of Work
he hours of work are flexible during the school day (8.30pm – 4.15pm, Monday to Friday), and at other hours of the week and weekend to cater for the needs of boarding pupils and those pupils wishing to learn out of school hours.
