(1) Category Manager
Role Summary:
Responsible for technology vendor and contract performance, regulatory compliance, risk assessments, audit readiness, and governance processes. Acts as the single point of contact for Group Risk, Legal, and Compliance on vendor-related matters.
Owns the vendor performance lifecycle, analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives. Translates vendor data into insights and actions to improve service, cost, and innovation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Management in Technology primary responsible for Spend analysis, Demand analysis (forecast vs actual), Market insights, Contract analysis, Cost drivers
Understands vendor and contract requirements in Banking or IT Infrastructure or Datacenter & Network, inclusive cloud and non-cloud.
Implement and maintain VMO policies aligned to BNM RMiT and outsourcing guidelines.
Lead third-party risk assessments, onboarding due diligence, and exit planning.
Track vendor compliance obligations, certifications, and risk tiering.
Facilitate internal audits, regulatory reviews, and control testing for vendor engagements.
Monitor SLAs, KPIs, and contract adherence through scorecards and escalation frameworks to identify contract non-performance and penalties.
Develop vendor scorecards, dashboards, and performance reporting frameworks.
Monitor contractual KPIs and SLAs across technology domains.
Lead QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews) and service improvement plans with vendors.
Drive cost benchmarking, TCO tracking, and cost-avoidance reporting.
Collaborate with Business/Technology leads on vendor health and renewal decisions.
Requirements:
10+ years’ experience in banking technology vendor management
3-5 years in Financial sector or understands banking or financial sector vendor requirements.
Category Strategy formulation, vendor performance oversight, contract lifecycle tracking. and VMO set-up experience
Familiarity with Technology Categories, BNM RMiT, MAS TRM
Expertise in contract negotiations, CLM tools, and vendor segmentation
Proficiency in reporting tools such as Power BI/Tableau and contract metrics

Looking for Banking/FSI-experienced Category Managers with strong regulatory knowledge (BNM RMiT / MAS TRM), hands-on vendor performance management, and excellent contract governance. Secondary weightage can be given to those with VMO transformation experience and advanced reporting/analytics skills.
- Experience Range: 10–18 years.
- Domain: Minimum 3–5 years in banking/financial services.
- Geography: Malaysia-based (preferred), open to Singapore talent if budget allows.
- Tools: Power BI/Tableau, CLM platforms (Icertis, Ariba, Coupa).
- Regulatory Exposure: Must have dealt with BNM RMiT audits or outsourcing regulatory compliance.
