The Airline Strategy Manager reports to the Chief Strategy & Investor Relations Officer, assists with the Group-level strategic planning process for all airlines under the Group portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate vision and shareholder expectations. The role encompasses long-term network and fleet planning, market intelligence, competitive benchmarking, and the delivery of board-ready recommendations on growth, transformation, and profitability. The role also covers strategic initiatives to support growth objectives while strengthening the Group’s business core.
WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:
Strategic Planning & Execution
Manage with the formulation of the Group’s annual and 5-Year Strategic Plan, covering all operating airlines.
Oversee the annual refresh of the 5-Year Network & Fleet Plan, ensuring integration of growth targets, market demand, and operational capacity.
Develop KPI-linked strategic roadmaps to guide cross-functional execution.
Drive strategic initiatives that balance growth objectives with resilience in the Group’s core businesses.
Long-Term Fleet & Network and M&A Strategy
Lead major aircraft evaluation projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including configuration analysis, commercial modelling, and sustainability assessments.
Manage strategic fleet orderbook reviews, preparing detailed Board papers with CAPEX, delivery timelines, and route deployment plans.
Translate macroeconomic, market, and regulatory insights into actionable network expansion recommendations.
Assess opportunities for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, strategic investments, and collaborations to strengthen growth corridors and unlock new markets.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
Maintain oversight of competitive developments, market shifts, and capacity changes across key geographies.
Identify and assess market entry and growth opportunities with full financial and operational impact analysis.
Leadership & Governance
Produce Board-level strategy documents for decision-making, including scenario modelling and financial justifications.
Act as a key thought partner to the Chief Strategy & IR Officer on strategic priorities, risks, and opportunities.
Prepare investment strategy documents for investors, lenders, and banks, ensuring clear alignment between financing requirements and fleet/network plans.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Aviation Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
6+ years’ progressive experience in airline strategy, airline performance, fleet planning, network planning, corporate development or operations management.
Proven success delivering Board-level strategic projects such as fleet evaluation and planning, network plans, and corporate financing integration.
Strong understanding of airline economics, market analysis, and competitive strategy.
Demonstrated experience in P&L ownership or direct commercial impact accountability.
Strategic Visioning: Ability to convert industry trends into actionable long-term strategies.
Analytical Excellence: Proficient in market analysis, financial modelling, and scenario planning.
Commercial Acumen: Strong grasp of route economics, fleet cost structures, and revenue levers.
Board-Level Communication: Capable of producing concise, data-driven decision documents.
