LACTATION CONSULTANT
1. Breastfeeding Support: Provide one-on-one counseling and support to mothers staying at confinement centre on breastfeeding techniques, positioning, latch-on, milk production, and troubleshooting common breastfeeding challenges such as engorgement, sore nipples, or low milk supply.
2. Assessments & Evaluations: Perform thorough lactation assessments of mothers and infants, including evaluating breastfeeding techniques, infant weight gain, milk supply, and any issues that may affect breastfeeding success.
3. Education & Training: Educate new parents on breastfeeding benefits, proper latch, milk expression techniques, and storage, as well as provide information on the safe use of breast pumps and supplements. Offer prenatal education classes or workshops for expectant mothers.
4. Care Coordination: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including paediatricians and nurses, to develop and implement individualized care plans for breastfeeding families.
5. Emotional Support: Provide emotional and psychological support to mothers who may experience breastfeeding difficulties, offering encouragement, reassurance, and strategies for overcoming obstacles.
6. Monitor Progress: Regularly follow up with breastfeeding mothers and families to ensure progress and provide ongoing support as needed, including home visits or virtual consultations.
7. Record Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, assessments, care plans, and progress in accordance with hospital or clinic standards.
8. Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with current research and trends in lactation science, breastfeeding management, and infant nutrition to provide the highest level of care.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum diploma in nursing with relevant qualification in lactation.
- At least 5 years of experience in lactation counseling.
- In-depth knowledge of breastfeeding techniques, infant care, and lactation physiology. Familiarity with common breastfeeding challenges and evidence-based practices in lactation management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate, support, and encourage parents in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to assess and address a wide range of breastfeeding challenges.

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
