1. Manage the end-to-end process of obtaining required licenses, permits, and approvals for solar projects, including application preparation, submission, and follow-up.
2. Prepare timely reports and updates to internal stakeholders on licensing status, regulatory risks, and outstanding matters.
3. Serve as the primary point of contact with government authorities, regulatory bodies, municipal councils, and agencies
4. Contribute to the development of strategic approaches for effective engagement with government bodies
5. Build and maintain positive working relationships to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the company and government bodies
6. Communicate with government bodies and third-party agents/consultants to obtain approvals, resolve issues, and maintain compliance.
7. Monitor, interpret, and report on changes in relevant government regulations and policies affecting solar project development and relevant to company’s operation.
8. Lead, track and oversee all company certifications and regulatory licenses to ensure timely compliance, including renewals and amendments
9. Advise internal teams on the impact of regulatory/policy changes and necessary business adjustments.
10. Maintain accurate and organised documentation and records of all permits, licenses, correspondence, and filings to support compliance and audit readiness.
11. Support internal compliance audits and ensure documentation is in place for regulatory inspections when required.
12. Provide guidance and training to internal teams on regulatory best practices and licensing requirements.
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related field.
2. Minimum 5–8 years of experience in government liaison, permitting, or regulatory affairs, preferably in the solar or renewable energy sector.
3. Strong understanding of Malaysia’s energy policies, licensing frameworks, and approval processes.
4. Existing relationships with agencies such as SEDA, ST, TNB, and MIDA are highly advantageous.
5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
6. Ability to handle multiple concurrent licensing processes under tight deadlines.
