Job Description
The Production Area Leader plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Banner & Pocket production area. This position is fully accountable for safety, daily operations, and continuous improvement, while also contributing to strategic planning, workforce development, and quality enhancement. The leader acts as a key liaison between shopfloor teams and support functions, driving performance and fostering a culture of excellence.
🔐 Safety (Full Responsibility)
- Ensure full compliance with company safety regulations across all employees.
- Communicate safety and health directives effectively to the team.
- Safeguard company property within the production area.
- Lead accident investigations and follow-ups in Curing & OB.
- Implement necessary safety measures and controls.
- Provide and monitor usage of PPE for Curing crew.
⚙️ Daily Operations (Full Responsibility)
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, SOPs, and inspection protocols.
- Lead SAT4 meetings for Curing & OB issues and escalate to relevant departments.
- Monitor and report daily GT stock inventory.
- Enforce discipline and manage daily manning arrangements.
- Handle SAP attendance bookings and operator claims submission.
- Manage and justify daily overtime to meet production plans.
- Submit daily production reports to BTL/HOD by 8 AM
- Ensure smooth execution of production plans; revise programs as needed.
- Escalate production issues to BTL/HOD or support teams promptly.
- Lead shopfloor issue resolution for Curing & OB.
- Coordinate with Engineering during breakdowns and prioritize repairs.
- Manage NCRs related to Curing & OB.
- Monitor and reduce scrap levels (I–IV) as per targets.
- Ensure completion of FPI and mold change check sheets.
📋 Adherence & Compliance (Full Responsibility)
- Ensure compliance with SH policies, QMS, PPS, and internal procedures.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Coordinate and document counseling sessions.
- Conduct annual appraisals for Blue Collar employees.
- Attend grievance meetings with UNION (CTEU) when required.
- Support investigations by local authorities (e.g., SOCSO).
- Ensure availability of updated Work Instructions and Specifications.
🔄 Continuous Improvement (Full Responsibility)
- Ensure CBT1 & LPA boards are completed on schedule.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions using structured analysis.
- Collaborate with support functions for improvement initiatives.
- Promote and implement cost-saving ideas.
- Drive continuous improvement to reduce operating costs.
🧭 Plans / Strategy / Projects (Shared Responsibility)
- Develop and execute corrective and contingency plans.
- Support CBS manufacturing principles.
- Improve and stabilize process capability and efficiency.
- Escalate unresolved issues in CBT2 for further action.
📚 Training & Development (Shared Responsibility)
- Ensure operators receive proper training and tools.
- Promote job rotation and multitasking to enhance skillsets.
- Collaborate with Shopfloor Trainer for operator certification.
- Identify and arrange for multi-skill development as needed.
📈 Production / Quality / Efficiency Improvements (Shared Responsibility)
- Implement efficient processes to meet output and quality targets.
- Maintain production quality through robust process controls.
- Support root cause analysis in QSC.
- Align equipment, tooling, and processes with product requirements.
- Execute corrective actions and CI activities related to scrap, rework, tire weight, and cured tire dimensions.
📦 Others
- Place purchase orders as required.
- Take full responsibility for designated production areas.
- Lead scrap management initiatives when necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Chemical/ Manufacturing with minimum 3 years experience.
Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Chemical/ Manufacturing with minimum 5 years experience.
Must have experience in managing Shopfloor employees.
Fluent in Malay and English.
