Job Summary:
Provides oversight and legal advice for business’s needs and to ensure the company’s interest is protected.
Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory and Support
- Provide legal advice on business operations, including contracts, regulatory issues
- Advise on legal implications of business decisions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Compliance Oversight
- Review, revise and implement compliance management policies and procedures to ensure adherence to legal guidelines and internal regulations.
- Continuous monitoring and conduct quarterly compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
- Ensure that all business operations comply with relevant laws such as employment, health & safety, environmental, and product-specific regulations.
- Support risk management and policy activities for the organization
Investigations and Reporting
- Lead or participate in investigations into regulatory non-compliance.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to c-suites and Board of Directors.
Training and Education
- Organize and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels to increase awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.
Other projects
- Facilitate due diligence processes for market expansion.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in corporate legal and regulatory compliance, ideally within a public-listed company or highly regulated industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations (e.g., employment, contract, environmental, health & safety).
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents.
- Proven ability to manage compliance frameworks, conduct audits, and handle investigations.
- Prior exposure to Board or C-suite reporting.
- Familiar with risk management practices and corporate governance expectations.
- Strong interpersonal, advisory, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin (for engaging with internal and external Mandarin-speaking stakeholders).
Preferred but not required:
- Prior experience working with or supporting IPO or listing requirements.
- Exposure to cross-border legal matters or regional compliance.
- Candidates from reputable law firms with strong corporate advisory background and ready to transition into in-house roles are also encouraged to apply.
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: RM12,000.00 - RM16,000.00 per month
