Objectives of the Position
The Customs Compliance & Data Manager supports & ensures Global Customs Risk & Compliance relevant activities incl. 3rd parties such as Authorities, legal consultancy companies and Custom Brokers. In this role it is important to initiate, coordinate and monitor process-oriented risk assessments and mitigation measures implementation based on the requirements of the BASF Customs Internal Control System. In addition, observation of political and economic changes and the translation of them into end-2-end Customer processes is expected. This incorporates the ability for deep dive data analytics and data presentation in standardized visual formats such as Customs Dashboard as well as the ownership of the Customs Data globally.
Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities
- Increase transparency on new laws, regulations and customs agreements
- Initiates and defines regional binding GB Guidelines to ensure adherence to Customs Requirement and legislation
- Proactively engages Customs Communities of practices to ensure globally defined processes
- Conducts regional knowledge transfer to customs communities of practices
- Conducts initial risk assessments based on the globally aligned structure including documentation and yearly follow up within BASF Customs Internal Control System
- Closely align activities with Process Design Team to implement necessary changes in the process landscape
- Closely align activities with the Customs Audit & Legal Advisory Team to ensure compliance and reporting to BASF Corporate Center and local Customs Authorities
- Act as project coordinator
- Deep dive into and analyses of BASF internal & external customs data and presentation in a visual standardized format in close collaboration with SC Excellence
- Provide Training to Customs Community
Requirements
Education
- Master’s degree in Economic or Foreign Trade
Working Experience
- Expert knowledge of Customs & Foreign Trade regulations
- Expert knowledge of Customs Data (HS code, Trade compliance)
- Good BASF business knowledge
- Good SC Operations knowledge
Technical & Professional Knowledge
- Strong communication and argumentation skills
- Excellent analytical thinking
- Structured work organization
- Strong teamwork competence
- Experience in project management is desirable
- Good knowledge of the SAP master data systems and SAP GTS
