The Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations and producing high-quality images for interpretation by physicians. The role includes patient preparation, operation of ultrasound equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
- Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures including obstetric, abdominal, pelvic, vascular, and small parts scans.
- Operate ultrasound machines and maintain proper documentation of procedures performed.
- Work closely with referring physicians to understand the purpose of the ultrasound and adjust techniques accordingly.
- Ensure all ultrasound images meet quality standards for diagnosis.
- Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns to ensure patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to infection control and safety procedures during all patient interactions.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and managing daily workload efficiently.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training as required.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Imaging, Diagnostic Radiography, or equivalent.
- Certified and registered with relevant local authority (e.g., Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council, if in Malaysia).
- At least 1–2 years of working experience in a clinical or hospital setting (fresh graduates may be considered depending on training).
- Proficient in operating ultrasound equipment and interpreting preliminary results.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a healthcare team.
