Job Description
The Role
The Software Engineer – ServiceNow role will be a member of our BAU team, focusing on resolving incidents, delivering enhancements, and supporting day-to-day administration of the platform. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, solution consultants, and other IT teams to ensure the platform remains reliable, scalable, and aligned with business needs. This role is ideal for a technically strong individual with hands-on experience in JavaScript, ServiceNow development, and a passion for continuous improvement and automation.
The Team
The Software Engineer – ServiceNow plays a key role within the Service Management Technology team—a skilled and collaborative group of professionals based both onshore and offshore. This team is responsible for delivering and supporting the capabilities that maintain, enhance, and maximise the value of the ServiceNow platform and its associated reporting. As the technical backbone of SEEK’s broader Service Management function, the team is critical to ensuring the platform’s stability, scalability, and continuous improvement. This team operates within the ‘Corporate Platforms & Technology Partnering’ group, which includes several technical platform teams—such as ERP and Service Management—as well as a dedicated Technology Partnering team. Spanning the APAC region, with members located across Australia and Asia, our Corporate Platforms group provides end-to-end capabilities across solution architecture, security, compliance, environment management, release coordination, testing, integration, and governance. The Technology Partnering division complements this by offering strategic consulting, solution development, and program delivery support for Finance, Business Services, and People & Culture functions.
Key Responsibilities
Build
- Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests related to the ServiceNow platform in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain catalog items, workflows, and Flow Designer flows to support evolving business requirements
- Perform platform administration tasks including user and role management, access controls, scheduled jobs, and instance maintenance.
- Build and maintain automated tests to ensure solution quality and minimize regression issues.
- Document system configurations, processes, and development work to support platform knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Monitor the platform’s performance, conduct health checks, and take proactive actions to address issues.
- Support system upgrades, patching, and general maintenance to keep the platform current and stable
Execute
- Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling.
- Validate code changes by executing unit test and end-to-end test
- Actively communicate with others in an effective, timely manner with empathy
- Improve a DevOps culture through effective collaboration and regular reflection
- Improve understanding of your customers and consider their needs in all development
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to define and document the test scenarios
- Support
- Follow established ServiceNow best practices to maintain platform stability and performance
- Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge
- Provide constructive feedback during reviews and team discussions
- Participate in knowledge sharing sessions to expand ServiceNow expertise

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing on the ServiceNow platform. • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Application Developer certifications.
- Certified Implementation Specialist Certifications – ITSM / ITAM / ITOM.
- Experience demonstrating sound working knowledge of ServiceNow’s core architecture and primary application modules such as Service Catalog, Incident Problem, Change Request, Asset and CMDB, Discovery Knowledge.
- Experience with Flow Designer, catalog item development, and workflow configuration.
- Experience building and maintaining automated tests using ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) or similar tools.
- Ability to create formal documentation for systems administration operations and maintenance.
- Experience performing platform upgrades and cloning activities.
- Effective, clear and concise communication as the subject matter expert with the ability to adapt to your audiences with various levels of technical acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly breakdown problems and recommend innovative solutions, identify and summarise root cause analysis, and utilise escalation channels as needed.
- Ability to successfully manage your time, balancing multiple tasks with varying levels of priority and urgency, while managing expectations of technology teams and other internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships, work as a member of a team and deliver exceptional service to stakeholders
