ABOUT THE POSITION
Art & Visual Implementation
- Drive the creation and integration of technical art content including shaders, VFX, lighting setups, and procedural assets.
- Ensure technical art content is visually impressive, highly optimized, and aligned with platform performance constraints.
- Prototype and validate visual features and effects in collaboration with artists and engineers.
- Collaborate with Lighting, VFX, and Environment teams to deliver polished and performant visuals in engine.
- Provide tech solutions that enable creative teams to push visual fidelity without compromising performance or stability.
Tools & Pipeline Development
- Identify and resolve day-to-day workflow pain points for artists by streamlining processes, reducing manual steps, and improving overall production flow.
- Design, build, and maintain artist-facing tools that support scalable workflows across disciplines such as environment, character, VFX, and lighting.
- Document and communicate technical workflows, ensuring best practices are shared and maintained.
Collaboration & Integration
- Work closely with the Art Director, Art Leads, and Engineering team to bridge artistic needs with technical requirements.
- Own and troubleshoot tech art bottlenecks across lighting, FX, asset complexity, and memory/performance limitations.
Planning & Mentorship
- Participate in sprint planning and estimation with production and other departments, providing accurate scoping of tech art deliverables.
- Support delivery forecasting with data-informed insights, highlighting risk areas and dependencies.
- Guide and mentor junior tech artists, providing feedback, training, and support to raise the technical capabilities of the team.
- 5–8+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in game development, with at least 3 shipped titles.
- Strong experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity, including real-time lighting, shader development, and VFX implementation.
- Proficient in at least one major DCC tool, with experience supporting procedural and performance-driven content.
- Deep understanding of real-time rendering constraints and performance optimization.
- Experience designing tools and workflows that empower artists and enhance production efficiency.
- Proven ability to mentor and grow other tech artists, while contributing to overall pipeline and production health.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with art, design, and engineering.
- Passion for creating visually stunning, performant content, and driving innovation in game art technology.
- Curiosity or experience in AI-assisted workflows is a strong plus.
