The Opportunity
As our new Senior/Lead Consultant in Waste-to-Energy and Bioenergy, you will be part of our team in Malaysia and the wider APAC department of over 25 experts. You will work on projects primarily in Malaysia and the APAC region, and potentially on international assignments. Examples of work include:
- Design review of technical documentation in Owner’s Engineer projects
- Preparation of technical documents for tender specifications
- Technical due diligence, red flag assessments, and feasibility studies
- Engagement in biomass, biogas, and broader bioenergy projects
- Acting as Project Engineer or Deputy Project Manager on Owner’s Engineer projects
- Serving as a technical consultant on feasibility study and due diligence projects
Regional Impact
This role supports Malaysia’s Green Technology Master Plan and the APAC region’s decarbonisation roadmap. You will help shape Ramboll’s presence in Southeast Asia’s energy transition.

KPIs and Success Metrics
Success in this role will be measured by your contribution to project delivery, client satisfaction, and technical innovation in WtE and bioenergy.
Travel and Client Engagement
The role may involve occasional travel within Southeast Asia for site visits, stakeholder workshops, and client meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of projects related to WtE, bioenergy, biomass, biogas, and carbon capture
- Conduct technical analyses and support project teams in feasibility studies, design, due diligence, and implementation
- Evaluate and compare technologies, including mass and energy balances, process diagrams, and plant layouts
- Contribute to business development through proposal writing and market research
- Act as a thought leader and support knowledge sharing across the region
About You
The following experience is highly desirable:
- Experience in one or more of the following: Waste-to-Energy, biomass, biogas, and bioenergy (Power Generation / Bioconversion)
- Background in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in consulting, feasibility studies, and due diligence
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with clients, suppliers, and partners
- Excellent spoken and written English; regional language skills are a plus
