A production planner develops and manages production schedules, inventory levels, and material procurement to ensure efficient manufacturing operations and timely delivery of products. They collaborate with various departments to optimize production processes, minimize costs, and maintain quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing Production Schedules:Creating and maintaining detailed production schedules that align with demand forecasts, inventory targets, and available resources.
- Managing Inventory:Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent shortages or excess.
- Procurement Management:Coordinating with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of necessary materials and parts for production.
- Production Process Optimization:Analyzing production processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Collaboration and Communication:Working closely with sales, customer service, production, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth production operations.
- Performance Monitoring:Tracking production progress, analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs), and generating reports to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Cost Management:Identifying opportunities to reduce production costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Troubleshooting:Addressing production issues, resolving bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to minimize disruptions.
