The Junior Physiotherapist is responsible for the effective delivery of physiotherapy practises to inpatients and outpatients of Medicine Centre . The Junior Physiotherapist will assess patients, plan and carry out treatment programmes to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
The Junior Physiotherapist will work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Responsibilities
1. To be responsible for a clinical caseload and ensuring that the patient receives appropriate treatment to a high professional standard.
2. To work as a lone practitioner with support available from a Senior Therapist if required. 3. To adhere to proper care and safe working practises in handling patients and equipment. 4. To undertake assessment of patients, using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques while seeking support from the Senior Therapist where appropriate.
5. To liaise with Senior Therapists to identify the most suitable programmes to suit patient needs.
6. With appropriate support, to formulate prognosis and recommend best course of intervention, including developing discharge plans.
7. Liaise with other healthcare providers to provide and receive relevant information about medical history and progress in regards to patients’ care.
8. To monitor patient during treatment and reassess patient after completion of every treatment rendered.
9. To continually evaluate patients’ progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes if required.
10. To ensure adequate education and counseling of patients and their relatives in the course of a patient’s rehabilitation.
11. To advise the Senior Therapist on issues of service delivery.
12. To continually ensure a safe and clean working station.
13. To be responsible for planning and prioritizing your own patient case load.
14. To manage clinical risk within own patient case load.
15. To be competent for the safe use of all equipment and techniques before use.
16. To be responsible for maintaining up-to-date clinical records.
17. To maintain relevant statistical information.
Professional
1. To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice.
2. To maintain, develop and gain new skills to improve and maintain professional standards. 3. To actively participate in the in-service training programmes, external courses and peer reviews.
4. To provide in-service education programmes to KLSMC staff as required.
5. To provide support, guidance and training to Physio Aides.
Organizational
1. To demonstrate ongoing service excellence skills
2. To relieve other physiotherapists whenever and wherever necessary.
3. To be responsible for own time management in planning caseload to meet service and patient priorities with supervision by the Senior Therapist.
4. Maintains economical, safe and efficient patient care.
5. To comply with physiotherapy service charging policies and billing.
6. To ensure all equipment are in good working condition.
7. To undertake registration, scheduling and billing of patients in the absence of clerical staff.
8. To ensure there is adequate stock of both clinical and domestic goods for the department.
9. Demonstrates ongoing understanding of corporate compliance policies.
10. Observe confidentiality in relation to patient/organizational information.
11. To comply with the KLSMC Rules and Regulations charter.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION
Bachelor in Physiotherapy from a recognized university.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy interventions, practice methods and professional skills.
2. Good understanding of roles of other health care professionals.
3. Up-to-date knowledge of physiotherapy theories, practices and procedures.
4. Working knowledge of computer software (email, internet) and Microsoft Office applications.
SKILL & BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED
1. Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse patient groups with varying levels of comprehension and language capability.
2. Effective listening, observation and facilitation skills to effectively assess patients and provide appropriate treatment and consultation.
