As a Demi Chef, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the kitchen, supporting the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in delivering high-quality dishes. With at least 5 years of experience in culinary roles, you are expected to execute cooking responsibilities with minimal supervision, contribute to menu development, and ensure the consistent quality and presentation of all dishes. You will also help guide junior staff and uphold the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
- Independently prepare ingredients and mise en place for various dishes.
- Follow and maintain standardized recipes while ensuring quality and consistency.
- Oversee the preparation area and ensure readiness for service.
Cooking:
- Cook and present dishes accurately according to recipe and plating standards.
- Monitor portion control, cooking times, and temperatures to ensure food safety and consistency.
Team Collaboration:
- Support and coordinate with Commis and junior kitchen staff during preparation and service.
- Communicate effectively with chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff to coordinate tasks.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Adhere to sanitation and hygiene standards to ensure a safe working environment.
Learning and Development:
- Actively seek opportunities to learn new cooking techniques and expand culinary knowledge.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for menu improvement and innovation.
Adherence to Standards:
- Comply with all kitchen protocols, hygiene regulations, and safety procedures.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and service standards are consistently met.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting.
- Solid understanding of culinary techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor junior team members.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and sanitation.
- Willing to travel to another outlet (if needed).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
- Work in a hot and noisy kitchen environment.
