Location: Shah Alam
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop Freight team to ensure the efficient management of air and ocean import/export shipments.
- Oversee all aspects of air and ocean shipments, including cargo booking, pickup and delivery arrangements, and managing transportation schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Ensure accurate preparation and submission of all essential shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, airway bills, shipping manifests, custom declarations, and certificates of origin.
- Collaborate with custom authorities, agents, and internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant clearance of shipments. Stay updated on import/export regulations, trade agreements, and compliance requirements to mitigate risks and avoid operational disruptions.
- Ensure proactive communication with customers, providing regular shipment updates, addressing inquiries and concerns, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Oversee vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring quality service, negotiating freight rates, and resolving operational issues. Ensure vendors meet service-level agreements (SLAs) and cost optimization goals.
- Monitor and control transportation costs, ensuring that freight rates, surcharges, and other operational expenses are managed effectively. Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining high service standards.
- Evaluate existing workflows and identify areas for improvement. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline processes.
- Prepare and present reports on freight operations, shipment performance, cost management, and compliance. Provide strategic recommendations for process enhancements and operational improvements to senior management.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Requirements and skills:
- At least a Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or a similar industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with logistics management software.
- Language Skills: English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin.
- Proven experience in leading and developing teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to motivate and manage team performance to achieve operational targets.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
- In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations and the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks while ensuring compliance.
- Able to commence work immediately is an added advantage.
