Job Description:
- Support the inbound and the export clearance processes within established standards by approving and validating the declarations
- Facilitate the import and export of goods across international borders by ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
- Ensure that all imported and exported goods adhere to local and international customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant customs laws, regulations, and procedures to facilitate the smooth clearance of import and export shipments.
- Ensure and review the accurate preparation of import and export Customs declarations including the clearance documentations such as permits, invoices, exemptions and other required paperwork to ensure accuracy and feedback any errors (if any)
- Submit customs clearance documents to customs authorities and make the necessary payment of duty and taxes, ensuring timely release of shipments
- Handle customs-related issues, such as customs holds, inspections, and disputes, and work to resolve them efficiently
- Determine the shipment value in accordance to the local valuation guidelines provided by the local authorities
- Liaise with customs officials on specific duties payable and problem shipments
- Act as a liaison between customers and customs authorities, providing guidance on customs regulations, requirements, and potential issues
- Maintain and ensure a thorough knowledge of Customs practices and procedures
- Resolve specific disputes or provide advice on technical issues with internal customers
- Assess and mitigate potential compliance risks by conducting audits and compliance checks on import/export processes
- Uphold high ethical standards and integrity in all customs-related activities.
- Stay updated on changes in customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements to ensure ongoing compliance and optimization
Requirements:
- 3 - 4 years relevant experience of working with customs clearance matters within transportation, logistics or import / export industry
- Proficiency in classifying goods using the Harmonized System (HS) code
- Customs Broker License (if available)
- Completed Customs Agent Certification (KEK)
- Strong knowledge on Free Zone clearance process
- Strong knowledge on all Customs forms K1,K2,K8 & K3 as well as ZB forms
- Strong negotiation skills for both internal and external (Customs)
- Able to perform declaration as per the forms above
Position: Permanent Position
Salary Range: RM 2,800 - RM 3,300
