At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses.
The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.
Who We Are
We are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electronics & Electrical Engineer to lead Failure Analysis (FA) efforts for Electronics & Electrical Engineering (EEE)-related issues at the system level. The ideal candidate will be responsible for investigating MLB (Main Logic Board), PCBA and module-level failures, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions. In addition, the role includes proactively identifying EE test gaps and proposing strategies to close them, ensuring robust design validation and long-term system reliability
Responsibilities:
Perform detailed Failure Analysis (FA) of electrical and mixed-signal components (e.g., MLB, PCBs, modules) that fail at the system level.
Reproduce system-level EE failures and isolate failure signatures to specific components or design flaws.
Conduct board-level electrical characterisation, diagnostics, and signal integrity reviews.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Test, Validation, and Reliability) to trace root causes.
Document findings with clear technical reports including root cause, corrective/preventive actions, and learnings.
Identify gaps in EE module-level test coverage that lead to escapes at the system level.
Propose and implement improved test methodologies or additional test cases to close those gaps.
Provide feedback to design teams to improve design robustness and testability.
Support continuous improvement efforts in FA methodology, documentation, and tooling.
Maintain lab equipment and ensure best practices in safety and data handling.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Electrical Engineering or related or equivalent field.
3+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on failure analysis or hardware validation.
Strong hands-on experience with electrical debug tools (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, etc.).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, PCB layouts, and datasheets.
Familiarity with high-speed digital design, power electronics, or signal integrity is a plus.
Experience with design for test (DFT) and design for reliability (DFR) practices is an advantage.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to FA.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to document findings and communicate with cross-functional teams.
What Makes You Standout
• Experience with FA tools such as X-ray, thermal imaging, SEM, or boundary scan.
• Knowledge of reliability testing standards (e.g., HALT, HASS).
• Python or other scripting experience for test automation or data analysis.
