Deputy Vice-Chancellor
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) is a key executive leader reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, responsible for driving academic excellence, innovation and strategic growth in alignment with the University’s mission and national higher education policies. The DVC oversees academic governance, quality assurance, faculty performance and student success while fostering industry partnerships and internationalisation.
As a member of the Senate, Academic Board and University Management Committee, the DVC ensures the University’s academic programmes remain competitive, compliant with MQA and MOHE standards and responsive to labour market needs. The role also involves direct leadership of Deans, academic support departments (Registry, Examinations Unit, QA, Student Services, etc.), and collaboration with industry and global academic partners.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Academic Leadership & Strategy
· Develop and implement the University’s academic strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
· Lead curriculum innovation, including micro-credentials, digital learning (e.g. AI/VR integration) and industry-driven programmes to enhance graduate employability.
· Oversee accreditation (MQA) and ensure compliance with Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) and MOHE.
2. Teaching & Learning
· Drive research-informed teaching and pedagogical excellence, incorporating blended learning and OBE (Outcome-Based Education).
· Promote innovative teaching methodologies (e.g. flipped classrooms, project-based learning, experiential learning) aligned with industry demands.
· Oversee the University’s e-learning ecosystem, ensuring seamless LMS integration.
· Oversee teaching and learning audits and peer-review mechanisms to maintain high instructional standards.
· Develop benchmarking systems against MQA, SETARA etc.
· Ensure alignment of assessments with programme learning outcomes (PLOs) and MQF.
· Strengthen student feedback mechanisms (e.g. course evaluations, focus groups) to refine teaching approaches.
3. Operational & Faculty Management
· Mentor Deans and Heads of Schools to achieve KPIs in teaching, research and industry engagement.
· Develop academic talent pipelines, including continuous professional development for lecturers focusing on pedagogical trainings and digital competency.
· Monitor faculty financial sustainability, ensuring programmes are market-relevant and financially viable.
4. Quality Assurance & Enhancement
· Establish rigorous academic quality frameworks, including periodic programme reviews, MQA programme audits and institutional risk management.
· Strengthen examination integrity, plagiarism policies and academic ethics in line with MOHE regulations.
· Establish frameworks for continuous improvement in teaching, learning and student assessment
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
· Foster relationships and industry collaborations (e.g. MOUs with GLCs, industry partners, multinational corporations) for work-based learning and R&D.
· Expand global academic partnerships (e.g. dual degrees, student exchanges, joint research).
· Represent the University at national/international forums and ceremonial events.
6. Student Experience & Employability
· Enhance student-centric initiatives, including career readiness, entrepreneurship programmes and industry internships.
· Enhance academic support services to improve student success rates.
· Strengthen alumni engagement to boost graduate employability and University reputation.
7. Governance & Committee Leadership
· Chair key committees (e.g. academic staff promotions, disciplinary boards, scholarship panels).
· Oversee budgeting, resource allocation and digital transformation in academic departments.
· Act on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor in their absence, including decision-making on academic matters.
8. Additional Duties
· Undertake special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by the University Management.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
· PhD in a relevant discipline from a recognized university, full professorship preferred
· Minimum 10–15 years in senior academic leadership roles (e.g. Dean, Provost or Deputy Vice-Chancellor) in higher education institutions (preferably in Malaysian private universities).
· Proven track record in academic governance
· Experience in curriculum design (OBE, MQF alignment), quality assurance (MQA audits, SETARA/MYRA compliance) and digital education (e.g. LMS management, hybrid learning)
· Indepth understanding of MQA Accreditation Standards (e.g. Programme Standards, COPPA), MOHE policies and Private Higher Education Institutions Act (PHEIA) 1996
· Strong research portfolio (e.g. publications, grants)
· Experience in international collaborations and fostering industry partnerships

Pay: RM20,000.00 - RM21,000.00 per month
