Key Responsibilities
Teaching
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Business Studies lessons aligned with the Secondary and A Level curriculum.
- Teach key topics such as business objectives, marketing, finance, human resources, operations management, external influences, and globalisation.
- Provide in-depth instruction and exam-focused guidance, including case studies, structured essay responses, and data-response questions.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching materials that meet examination board requirements.
- Prepare students thoroughly for written examinations and coursework components through exam strategies and practice with past papers.
- Assess, record, and report on students’ progress in line with school policy.
- Offer constructive feedback to support student improvement and exam performance.
- Incorporate real-world business examples, current affairs, and case studies to make learning relevant and engaging.
- Support students in extracurricular activities such as business clubs, competitions, and enterprise projects.
- Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge, including changes in exam specifications and current business developments.
Assessment and Feedback
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments to track progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, maintaining accurate records of achievement.
- Support students in developing analytical, evaluative, and application skills essential for success in Business Studies.
Pastoral and Student Support
- Promote independent learning, critical thinking, and responsible decision-making.
- Offer tailored support to students needing additional help, encouraging their academic and personal growth.
- Provide pastoral care to support students in their well-being and educational journey.
Curriculum Development
- Collaborate with the Head of Department and colleagues to ensure a cohesive, comprehensive Business Studies curriculum.
- Stay current with developments in business and economics, integrating contemporary issues and case studies into lessons.
- Participate in regular training and professional development to enhance teaching practice.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate attendance and behaviour records.
- Communicate effectively with parents about student progress and attend parent-teacher meetings.
- Contribute actively to departmental meetings, school events, and examination preparation.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Management, or a related field from a recognised university.
- At least 1 year of experience teaching Business Studies, preferably at both Secondary and A Level.
- Comprehensive understanding of the IGCSE and A Level Business Studies syllabus and assessment criteria.
- Strong knowledge of case study analysis, exam technique, and evaluation frameworks used in Cambridge exam.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience teaching the Cambridge syllabus.
