Job Summary
The Barista / Coffee Shop Staff is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and light food items while providing excellent customer service. This role includes operating coffee machines, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the café, handling transactions, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
Key ResponsibilitiesBeverage & Food Preparation
- Prepare espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages according to recipes and standards.
- Serve cakes, pastries, breads, and other café menu items with attention to presentation and portion control.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and maintain product quality, freshness, and consistency.
Customer Service
- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide recommendations and information about menu items.
- Handle customer complaints or feedback promptly and professionally.
- Ensure orders are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
Cash Handling & POS
- Process orders and payments accurately using the POS system.
- Manage cash, credit card, and digital transactions according to company policies.
- Assist with daily cash reconciliation and reporting.
Cleanliness & Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter, equipment, and seating area.
- Follow hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP where applicable).
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including dishwashing and waste disposal.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
Stock & Inventory
- Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other café supplies.
- Assist with restocking shelves, chillers, and displays.
- Inform supervisors of low stock or ordering needs.
Teamwork & Operations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Support opening and closing procedures (e.g., machine calibration, cash-out, cleaning).
- Participate in training sessions to improve skills and product knowledge.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in a café, barista role, or F&B environment preferred (training provided).
- Knowledge of espresso-based beverages and brewing methods is an advantage.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and portioning.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable handling hot equipment and working in a busy café environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM2,300.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
