About the Role
Job Title: Account Director, Public Relations and Influence
Location: Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia
Reports to: Head of PR
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Public Relations and Influence Account Director to lead strategic PR and influence campaigns for key clients. This role demands strong leadership, creativity, and a deep understanding of media relations, influencer marketing, and brand reputation management. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, guiding account teams, and delivering impactful results that drive brand awareness and engagement.
What You’ll Do

Client & Account Management
- Serve as the primary client contact, building trusted relationships and ensuring overall satisfaction.
- Set and manage client expectations effectively and strategically.
- Lead several small accounts or major projects within larger accounts with autonomy.
- Ensure consistent communication and visibility of program status through presentations and regular updates.
- Proactively identify and resolve account challenges with strategic foresight.
Strategic Campaign Development
- Lead the development, planning, and execution of PR and influence campaigns that deliver measurable results.
- Design and oversee implementation plans, staffing plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Integrate earned, owned, and paid media into cohesive campaign strategies.
Media & Influencer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media and influencers relevant to client industries.
- Oversee the identification, negotiation, and management of influencer partnerships.
- Leverage emerging media trends and digital platforms to amplify client messaging.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor account teams, ensuring the right work is assigned to the appropriate skill levels.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment, encouraging growth and development.
- Ensure the team is aligned with the agency’s vision, capabilities, and best practices.
Performance & Operational Excellence
- Monitor program performance using measurement tools and analytics, providing insightful reporting and recommendations.
- Ensure high-quality standards across all client deliverables.
- Manage budgets effectively and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in PR and communications, with at least 3 years in a senior-level or account director role.
- Demonstrated success in managing integrated PR and influence campaigns.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and client servicing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A robust network of media and influencer contacts is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in media monitoring, PR measurement, and social listening tools.
- Knowledge of digital trends, social media platforms, and content creation strategies.
Preferred:
- Experience in integrated marketing communications.
- Knowledge of crisis communications and reputation management.
- Multilingual skills are a plus
