Job Description
About the role
The Treasury Associate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Treasury function, contributing to liquidity management, banking operations, risk monitoring, and financial reporting. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of finance, strong attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with Finance, AP, and external banking partners, gaining exposure to core treasury activities and laying the groundwork for a career in corporate treasury and financial operations.
What you'll be doing
Cash & Liquidity Management
- Assist with daily cash positioning, funding requests, and internal transfers.
- Monitor bank balances and ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Support weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
Banking Operations & Payment Processing
- Set up and maintain payee/supplier details within the online banking platforms.
- Load and submit payment batches accurately and in line with treasury cut-off times.
- Assist with the administration of payment approvals and bank platform workflows.
- Prepare and manage banking documentation, including account opening forms, KYC requests, and mandate changes.
- Support onboarding and maintenance of suppliers and other payees in banking portals.
- Coordinate with banks and internal stakeholders to investigate payment queries, unallocated receipts, or rejected transactions.
Banking Relationships & Internal Liaison
- Act as a point of contact for internal teams (AP, AR, payroll, other finance teams) and external banking partners.
- Liaise with banks to resolve service issues, documentation requirements, and transactional concerns.
- Maintain treasury inbox, triage incoming requests, and ensure timely responses.
Financial Reporting & Forecasting
- Contribute to the preparation of weekly treasury reports and liquidity dashboards.
- Assist with month-end treasury reporting and variance commentary for the Finance team.
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for treasury-related accounts.
Policy, Compliance & Controls
- Support adherence to internal treasury policies and financial controls.
- Assist in updating treasury procedures, process documentation, and audit deliverables.
Projects & System Support
- Participate in treasury-related projects, such as system enhancements or bank rationalisation.
- Assist with the implementation and testing of treasury systems (e.g. TMS, ERP integrations).
- Contribute ideas for continuous process improvement and efficiency gains.
Qualifications
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Some experience in treasury, finance, banking, or accounting.
- Strong Excel skills; capable of working with data, reconciliations, and basic models.
- Excellent organisational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Familiarity with online banking platforms and payment systems.
- Exposure to treasury management systems (e.g., Xero, NetSuite).
- Understanding of FX, interest rates, or investment principles.
- Experience supporting internal controls, audits, or compliance reviews.
