Job Description
POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
Provide consultation and implement all required regulations and standards at all airports to ensure high level of safety at all airports.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
- Develop action plan for runway safety; advise management as appropriate on potential runway incursion/ excursion issues.
- Prevent and mitigate the effects of runway incursions; runway excursions and other occurrences related to runway safety.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders in hazards identification.
- Analyze and comment on proposed aerodrome works affecting the maneuvering areas and if necessary; initiate new processes; procedures; methods; new equipment to ensure ICAO compliance.
- Improve data collection; analysis and dissemination on runway safety.
- Regularly ensure that airfield areas are ICAO compliant to improve on safety of the users.
- Formulate and implement new safety procedures from time to time to enhance SMS standards
- Initiate local awareness by developing and distributing runway safety education and training material to controllers; pilots and personnel driving vehicles on the aerodrome
- Provide sound technical advice for all SMS certified MASB airports on airside development projects and ensure all necessary safety measures are discussed; agreed; implemented and maintained.
- Review the stages of work in progress and ensure preventive actions are established; implemented and maintained throughout the entire project.
- Be the responsible individual and focal point for the implementation of effective ASMS in airside development projects for all airports.
- Conduct comprehensive long term ASMS training to all levels of staff in SMS certified MASB Airports.
- Conduct training for airport staff; understanding their level of competency and tailoring the lecture to its maximum effectiveness.
- Formulate and design questionnaires for the CAAM ANSA to enhanced SMS performance-based audit.
- Duplicate as other unit executive and perform its duties and functions in his/her absence.
- Improving the safety on runway and airside areas.
Key Challenges
- Maintaining a high level of safety in accordance to ICAO requirement and the adoption of business-like approach to the management of safety based on the routine collection.
- Analysis of daily operations data from all certified MASB SMS airports,
- SMS application of business management practices to the management of safety for airports.
Skills
- Well versed in Annex 14, Doc. 9870 and Doc. 9859.
- Sound knowledge in ICAO Aerodrome related manuals & industry best practices.
- Knowledge in ATC is an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of:

Airside safety management system and airside development projects.

Keeping abreast of the new safety developments and legislation in Airfield Safety Management Operations, e.g. ALoS, HIRARC, aircraft noise control, wake turbulences and environmental management through technical research, habitat management for bird control and new dispersal technique, DCA and legal publications & policies.

- Broad operational knowledge and experience in functions of the organization and support system.
- Project management, analytical and problem solving skill.
- Sound knowledge of safety management principles and practices.
- Fast leaner and pro-active.
- Ability to be a leader and work in group.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skill and able to communicate with people from various level of positions.
Education
EXTERNAL
- Degree preferably with specialization in Aviation Management or Equivalent
Relevant Industries
EXTERNAL
- Degree with CGPA > 3.0 and minimum 3 year relevant experience.
