Job Summary:
The Plastic Injection Technician/Engineer is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing plastic injection molding machines and processes. This role ensures that products are manufactured to specification while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation & Setup
- Set up and operate injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Install molds, set parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time), and ensure correct machine configuration.
- Monitor machine performance and product quality during operation.
2. Process Optimization
- Analyze and improve injection molding processes to enhance cycle time, reduce defects, and minimize material wastage.
- Fine-tune process parameters for optimal quality and efficiency.
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance on molds, machines, and peripheral equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process or machine-related issues.
- Identify and escalate equipment faults for preventive or corrective maintenance.
4. Quality Assurance
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of molded parts.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
- Support QA team in identifying root causes of non-conformances.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, maintenance, and production logs.
- Complete setup sheets and process documentation for future reference.
6. Health, Safety & 5S
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
- Ensure workplace cleanliness and adherence to 5S standards.
- Report any unsafe practices or conditions.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Plastics Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in injection molding operations (for Technician).
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience with strong process engineering knowledge (for Engineer level).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of injection molding machines (e.g., Arburg, Sumitomo, Haitian, Engel, etc.).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and part specifications.
- Familiarity with mold setup, troubleshooting, and machine programming.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
Optional Additions (based on your company needs):
- Experience with cleanroom molding (if applicable).
- Knowledge of IQ/OQ/PQ validation processes.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.
