Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team and ensuring the upkeep, repair, and improvement of the school’s buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role includes managing maintenance staff, coordinating with contractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and responding promptly to maintenance issues.
Key Responsibilities:1. Facility Maintenance
- Supervise and perform routine inspections of the school buildings and grounds.
- Schedule and carry out preventive maintenance (e.g., HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, electrical).
- Ensure timely repairs and maintenance of classrooms, restrooms, offices, laboratories, and other facilities.
2. Staff Supervision
- Manage and delegate tasks to maintenance staff, cleaners, and groundskeepers.
- Provide training and support to the maintenance team.
- Monitor performance and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
3. Vendor and Contractor Coordination
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers for major repairs or projects.
- Review and verify work completion and service quality before approval of payments.
4. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and fire drills in collaboration with the Admin or Safety Officer.
- Maintain logs and documentation of maintenance works and safety inspections.
5. Inventory and Budget Management
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure proper usage and storage of materials.
- Assist in preparing and managing the maintenance budget.
6. Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance calls (e.g., leaks, power failures, broken locks).
- Be on-call after hours or during weekends for emergencies, if required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in building maintenance or facility supervision.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints.
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Diploma or certification in engineering, building maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a supervisory role, ideally within a school or institutional setting.
- Prior experience in an international school environment is an added advantage.
